The best bars in the world are mostly found in Europe, according to this election. And that's good news for us, because we can easily visit them during a city break! Every year, the top-50 are announced and the battle is often between New York and London. This year, London captured the top 2 spots. In total, there are 17 countries in the list. We showcase some of the winners. Visit them on a city break or holiday, order a drink at the bar and judge for yourself!
London
The winner of the pageant is London's Connaught Bar, voted best in the world for the second year in a row. Things are fancy at Connaught, as it is housed in a five-star hotel. The quaint bar has a 1920s style and the speciality here is the Martini trolley. You'll even get a James Bond feeling there. In second place is Tayēr/Elementary, this bar has a special formula: within seconds, a cocktail is prepared for you semi-automatically.

Barcelona
Paradiso in Barcelona is in spot 3. A truly beautiful bar. The cocktails look fantastic and so does the decor. This is definitely the place to go when you are in Barcelona! No wonder this bar has won many prizes. By the way, here you can also take a day course to learn how to shake cocktails. The Two Schmunks bar is in 11th place, where the vibe is very different and the décor and staff are perhaps best described as 'hipster'.

Athens
Greek capital Athens also does well in this list. The Clumsies is in fourth place. It scores so well because also basically everything is good at this bar, according to the judges then. You can go there for an excellent cup of coffee in the morning, eat a nice breakfast, but also drink good cocktails and dance late into the night. Baba Au Rum comes in at spot 14. They serve cocktails with and without rum, which are always served in a special way. Moreover, prices are friendly and the decor makes you happy too.

Singapore
We also find several bars in Singapore in the list. The small country is a top destination anyway if you are on a (on) trip in Southeast Asia. And you have a huge choice of great restaurants and bars there. Highest on the list of best bars in Singapore is Manhattan, a hotel bar out of a book where you'll casually linger at the bar for an entire evening. Bring a well-stocked wallet, though. Atlas also scores well and has a special 'gin tower'.

Stockholm
Swedish capital Stockholm is worth a city trip anyway. Plus, you'll find super good breakfast spots, restaurants and bars. In the top-50, we already find some of them. Lucy's Flowershop is new to the list and truly unique. It is underground and the atmosphere is a touch dark. Besides, the cocktails there should be great. Tjoget also scores well. This bar may look a little less exclusive, it is a popular spot for a special cocktail. Try the 'signature' and award-winning cocktail Beets, with beetroot, vodka, coconut and ginger.
